Conference overview
AfricaPay Code For Mauritius is a 2-day conference on Thursday April 13 and Friday April 14, at Lycee des Mascareignes (Moka), from 8:30am-4pm on both days.
Because of the large amount of interest, we are holding an additional 1-day conference on Wednesday April 12 at St Joseph (Curepipe).
The conference is targeted towards college students (Form 4 and above), recent college graduates, and university students, who wish to learn more about computer science. This is a unique opportunity to be exposed to coding skills and the latest technology trends in the field. The event will be free for successful applicants. No prior experience in computer science is needed to apply! The only requirements are ideally a tablet or laptop (a smartphone is okay as well) for the workshops, and most importantly, a desire to learn!
Our instructors are Stanford students and alumni with prior teaching experience and expertise in different subfields of computer science, such as artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, systems, information, and security. Jason and Eunji will be teaching in-person for the conference, while other instructors will be joining via Zoom and be helped by us as well as our volunteers. We are advised on this project by Chris Piech, Assistant Professor of Computer Science Education at Stanford University. We are also pleased to have the support of EducationUSA at the US Embassy in Mauritius.
